During their assigned 24-hour shifts, members of the Grand Prairie Fire Department operate out of the 10 fire stations scattered throughout the city. When they aren’t providing medical and fire assistance, they find ways of making their live/work space as homey as possible. We spent time at several stations to get a glimpse of what a typical day entails.
With 14 community partners dishing out their homemade soup and other tasty treats, the annual Soup's on for Love held on Feb. 10 raised more than $8,000 for LifeLine Shelter for Families. The local nonprofit organization provides emergency assistance, temporary shelter, and parenting life skills to families of GPISD students who are at risk of becoming homeless.
